The Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board rule changes are now in effect.

Briefly, here's what the rule changes do:
1. Allows students in Board-approved certified veterinary technology programs to work as student interns under supervision of an Oregon licensed veterinarian or certified veterinary technician.
2. Updates pain management minimum standards.
3. Clarifies physical examination requirements to establish a VCPR and to perform euthanasia.
4. Eliminates waiver of VTNE for out-of-state applicants. (This amendment brings the rule into compliance with the statute that requires passing the national exam in order to be eligible for licensure.)
